(Feb. 27, 2018) — UT System Chancellor William H. McRaven issued a statement today following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to decline hearing the administration’s appeal of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. McRaven affirmed support of DACA students across all UT institutions.
“I, along with UT institution presidents, strongly believe in the benefits of DACA and encourage Congress to act quickly to continue the program and create a pathway for you to fulfill what I trust is your dream, to become a citizen of our great nation,” said McRaven in his statement.
“It’s likely we won’t have clarity on DACA until the courts, Congress or the Executive Branch elect to take up the matter later this year or early next year,” said UTSA President Taylor Eighmy.
“In light of this continuing uncertainty, I want to reiterate UTSA’s commitment and full support of our Dreamer students,” he said. “To all our DACA and unDACAmented students, staff and faculty, please know that you are valued members of the Roadrunner community, and we are here to support you.”
