(March 19, 2018) — Effective April 1, 2018, UTSA Campus Services will join the Division of Student Affairs. As a primarily student-focused department with a wide variety of on-campus services, the move will allow Campus Services to strengthen its connection with UTSA’s growing student population and vibrant campus life.

With the transition to the Student Affairs team, Campus Services embraces the opportunity to evolve. Clay Haverland, UTSA Assistant Vice President for Campus Services, agrees.

“UTSA is a growing university with changing needs. Our team is excited for the opportunity to join Student Affairs, and we will continue to enhance the campus experience through our services and partnerships,” said Haverland.

“The move of Campus Services to the Division of Student Affairs helps consolidate the departments providing student-focused auxiliary services,” said Kathryn Funk-Baxter, UTSA Vice President for Business Affairs, which previously housed the department’s functions. “We believe that by bringing together these teams that serve students directly, the university will strengthen our engagement with our most important constituents and help to drive student success. Campus Services has been committed for many years to fostering exceptional student experiences. This new structure will further advance their outstanding efforts to achieve our strategic goals.”

Following the transition to Student Affairs, Campus Services will report to Kevin Price, the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

“We are excited to have Campus Services join Student Affairs,” said Price. “Student Affairs is dedicated to fostering exceptional student experiences, and given the impact Campus Services has on students’ day-to-day lives, we believe their mission aligns very well with Student Affairs.”

“Student Affairs provides purposeful, student-centered programs and services, and I believe that mission makes for a great partnership with Campus Services,” stated Sam Gonzales, UTSA Vice President for Student Affairs.  “I look forward to working closely with the incredible team in Campus Services.”

In addition to moving to Student Affairs, Campus Services acquired Distribution Services on February 1, 2018. This includes central receiving, mail services, general stores and records storage.

Campus Services oversees multiple on-campus services, including parking, The ‘Runner, UTSA Dining, the Rowdy Campus Store and more.
