(Oct. 22, 2018) — UTSA is a designated early voting site for the Nov. 6 midterm election. Any registered Bexar County voter can skip the lines and cast a ballot at UTSA Oct. 22 to Nov. 2 in the H-E-B Student Union Bexar Room (HSU 1.102) on the UTSA Main Campus. Voters at the Downtown Campus can vote early at the nearby Bexar County Elections Dept. at 1103 S. Frio St.
During this midterm election, Texas voters will be deciding on races for seats in the House of Representatives and Senate along with Governor, Lt. Governor, Comptroller, State Land Commissioner, State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, State Agriculture Commissioner and State Railroad Commissioner. Bexar County elections include County Commissioner, District Attorney, District Clerk, County Clerk, County Judge and San Antonio charter propositions.
The UTSA Center for Civic Engagement is hosting several events to get the campus community excited to vote.
Roadrunner Voter Kickoff is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 on the Paseo on Main Campus.
For those at the Downtown Campus, bring a helmet and ride to the polls Monday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. Rain or shine, the entire community is encouraged to meet at Bill Miller Plaza and join City Council District 5 Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales as she leads Roadrunners on scooters to the early voting site at the Bexar County Elections Department. Participants should sign up in advance to reserve a free scooter to ride during the event.
On Monday Oct. 29, Move Texas will host a Party at the Polls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Paseo. Guests will enjoy music, fun activities and food.
During the 2014 midterm election, 20.8 percent of UTSA registered voters cast their vote. The Center for Civic Engagement challenges more Roadrunners to vote this year to increase the number.
