(April 19, 2019) — The Roadrunner Powerlifting Club claimed the men’s team National Championship at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate National Championships this week in Columbus, Ohio. This is the second year in a row that the men’s team has won the National Championship. The women’s team finished third, behind Texas A&M University and Midland University. The competition featured 36 collegiate teams from across the nation. The accomplishment continues the success of cultivating an enriching campus experience for UTSA students.

“Club Sports provides an outstanding opportunity for students to enrich their personal well-being and enhance their overall experience at UTSA. By participating in club sports, students gain valuable transferable skills and create relationships that will assist in their personal and professional development,” said Michael Castaneda, assistant director of sport programs at UTSA. “Campus Recreation is extremely proud and excited about the continued success of the Powerlifting Club.”

In addition to these tremendous team accomplishments, four UTSA students took home individual national titles.
