(May 22, 2019) — UTSA Counseling Services has announced the addition of three permanently funded positions for the upcoming academic year.
The new positions are one part of UTSA’s continued efforts to ensure student success by providing access to professional counseling services. The President’s Student Advisory Council and Student Services Fee Advisory Committee had both identified increased access to counseling services as a priority for the student body. Searches will begin this summer for all three positions, with a target to have the new counselors in place by the beginning of the fall semester.
The permanent positions being added are a new counseling staff clinician, a suicide prevention educator, and coordinator for the Center for Collegiate Recovery. Counseling Services is also utilizing an innovative new service delivery model to serve more students. Services such as the Crisis Helpline, Therapy Assistance Online (TAO), utilization of the Step-Care model and the continuation of Walk-in Wednesdays allow Counseling Services to more quickly deliver the appropriate care to students.
Enrolled students can continue to access Counseling Services throughout the summer. The office is located in the Recreation Wellness Center on the UTSA Main Campus. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can be reached by phone at (210) 458-4140 and online.
