(Sept. 6, 2019) — When UTSA’s new campus opened in 1975 in northwest San Antonio, one of its main points of access was the newly built UTSA Boulevard. The city created the roadway, stretching from Interstate 10 to Babcock Road, to provide increased accessibility, since Loop 1604 at the time was a narrow farm-to-market road.
During those early days, the route handled a lot of traffic, as documented by university photographer John Poindexter.
