(Sept. 3, 2019) — Today, UTSA Campus Services launches its fifth Peanut Butter Parking Campaign in collaboration with the UTSA Student Government Association, the San Antonio Food Bank and the Roadrunner Pantry.
During the campaign, customers have the option to pay eligible parking citations issued between Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 11 with a donation of peanut butter. The Peanut Butter Parking Campaign educates the campus community about parking policies while simultaneously reducing financial burden and benefiting the local and campus communities.
At the end of the campaign, Campus Services will deliver peanut butter donations to the San Antonio Food Bank to help fight hunger in Southwest Texas. This year, Campus Services will also distribute a portion of the donations to the Roadrunner Pantry. Last year, Campus Services collected 892 pounds and saved the campus community more than $11,785 in citation fees.
The San Antonio Food Bank and the Roadrunner Pantry list peanut butter as one of the most needed items due to its long shelf life and high source of protein. With a recommended serving size of two tablespoons, or roughly one ounce per sandwich, a 40-ounce jar of peanut butter helps provide dozens of meals.
To make a donation, bring your eligible citation and peanut butter donation to Campus Services in the Multidisciplinary Studies Building (MS 1.01.52) on the Main Campus or in the Frio Street Building (FS 2.418) on the Downtown Campus during standard business hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Peanut butter must be received within 14 days of the citation issuance date; otherwise, standard payment is due along with the usual $10 late fee.
The following parking citations issued from September 3 – 11, 2019 are eligible for peanut butter payment:
- Parking without a valid permit: $25
Peanut butter payment: Donate 40 oz.
- Parking without a proper permit: $50
Peanut butter payment: Donate 40 oz. - Parking without a valid permit: $100
Peanut butter payment: Donate 80 oz.
All other citations are subject to standard payment and policies. Peanut butter payments are valid for one citation per customer. Appealing the citation forfeits the right to pay with peanut butter.
Campus Services encourages and welcomes donations without citations.
