Dec. 2, 2019 — Giving Tuesday will be celebrated Dec. 3 at UTSA and worldwide. The international movement encourages people to support charity, and this year you can make the giving season brighter for UTSA students by supporting one or more student-led crowdfunding efforts.

The projects are featured on the university’s crowdfunding platform, Launch UTSA, and every dollar donated goes directly to support students, including:

“Roadrunners love helping other Roadrunners, and if everyone did just a little, we could make many more unforgettable opportunities available to students.”

GAGE MARTIN, President of Roadrunner Student Alumni Association

“Gifts to these projects are going to help students have well-rounded, meaningful experiences at UTSA,” said Gage Martin, president of the Roadrunner Student Alumni Association, a group that champions philanthropy at UTSA. “Considering that 75% of undergraduates are eligible for financial aid, without donor support some of these opportunities—that are very important to students—may not be possible at all.”

All donations through Launch UTSA are tax-deductible, as allowed by law. Donors to certain projects can also benefit by receiving special perks as a token of appreciation.

To promote Giving Tuesday on campus on Dec. 3 UTSA Annual Giving representatives and students from the Roadrunner Student Alumni Association will be in Sombrilla Plaza from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to take donations in person. Everyone who donates will receive a technology sticker; beverages from Quantum Coffee Roasters and mini crepes from Sweet Paris will also be available.

“We really want to encourage Roadrunner Nation to make giving to UTSA a holiday tradition,” said Martin. “Roadrunners love helping other Roadrunners, and if everyone did just a little, we could make many more unforgettable opportunities available to students during this season of giving and beyond.”
