Vote early in the primary on UTSA’s Main Campus

FEBRUARY 18, 2020 — The Roadrunner community and nearby residents are highly encouraged to cast their votes at UTSA, a designated early voting site for the March 3 Texas presidential primary election.

Early voting will be held beginning today through Feb. 28 in the H-E-B Student Union, Bexar Room (HSU 1.102), Main Campus.

The Downtown Campus community can vote early at the nearby Bexar County Elections Department (1103 S. Frio St., San Antonio). 

Here are the early voting times at UTSA:

Voters should be prepared to show a valid photo ID or secondary supporting ID. Deaf and hard of hearing voters can vote using Deaflink Technology during the early voting period at the Bexar County Elections Department near the UTSA Downtown Campus.

The UTSA Center for Civic Engagement will also be supporting students, campus and community partners who would like to foster voter participation:

• Faculty interested in incorporating an engaged learning component to their courses that includes voter engagement may contact Maria Alejandro.
• Those interested in leading the effort to register people to vote may attend volunteer deputy registrar training classes hosted at the Bexar County Elections Department (1103 S. Frio St., Ste. 100). They will be held on March 10, April 14, and May 12. Call (210) 335-6625 for more information or to sign up for a class.
• The Center for Civic Engagement is working with the Bexar County Elections Department to arrange a volunteer deputy registrar training class at UTSA’s Main Campus, but 30 participants are a minimum requirement. Those interested in attending a class at Main Campus should call the Center for Civic Engagement at (210) 458-2277.

UTSA was recently awarded a gold seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge for reaching a campus voting rate between 40% and 49% during the 2018 midterm election. The Center for Civic Engagement reports that the student voting rate on campus increased to 46.1% in 2018 from a rate of 15.3% in 2014. The data was based on a report from the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement. The full UTSA campus report can be viewed here.
