MARCH 13, 2020Editor’s note: The following message was sent via email today from Vice President for Information Management and Technology Kendra Ketchum to all faculty and staff:

To ensure you have access to all the technology resources you will need in the weeks to come, I am writing to share some essential information.

UTSA Devices

If you have any UTSA-owned laptops or tablets, please bring them to campus on Monday, plug them in and make sure they are logged into the network. This will automatically initiate the process of downloading and installing important updates. Because this process may take up to a few hours, please complete these steps as early in the workday as possible. These measures will help ensure that your UTSA-owned devices function appropriately in the event you need to work remotely.

Starting next week, please get in the habit of taking your UTSA-owned laptops and tablets, as well as associated chargers, home with you in the evenings and on weekends.

Duo Multifactor Authentication

If you have not registered your mobile device with Duo multifactor authentication, please do so now by visiting https://passphrase.utsa.edu and selecting “Begin Setup” in the center panel. If you have registered in the past but have since purchased a new mobile device, please email [email protected] to have your previous device unregistered. You will then be able to register your new device.

Technology Resources

University Technology Services has a suite of tools available to you to facilitate communicating and working with others virtually. See the new technology resources page on UTSA’s Coronavirus Updates site for complete information on tools to meet and share documentation, access UTSA’s network, make off-campus calls using your office extension and more.

University Technology Solutions is here for you. Please reach out to us at [email protected] for any assistance you may need as we navigate this fluid situation.
