COMMUNITY NEWS
FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS: If you know a current UTSA student faced with financial hardship due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the university has created a Financial Assistance Resources web page that lists several resources available to help.
SPRING COMMENCEMENT PLANS: To ensure everyone’s well-being while honoring graduating students, the university will hold virtual Spring Commencement ceremonies the weekend of May 23–24. A plan is being developed for an in-person celebration to honor graduating students once large public gatherings are allowed. Check out the details on UTSA’s Commencement page.
VIRTUAL EVENTS
SUMMER SUCCESS STRATEGIES: Academic Innovation is hosting a new series of webinars to prepare instructional faculty to properly transition summer courses online. Beginning tomorrow, the webinars will focus on resources and best practices for quality online teaching to ensure accessibility, student engagement and effective course management. The webinars are open to anyone who supports student learning, including teaching assistants, graduate assistants and academic support staff. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT: It’s National Collegiate Recovery Day. Take a picture of yourself wearing purple and post it on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook and tag @UTSArecovery to show your fellow Roadrunners who are in recovery your support.

ACCESS HEALTH SOLUTIONS: Rowdy New U is offering four webinars this week by our Blue Cross Blue Shield UT SELECT medical health insurance vendors. Click a link below to register for a webinar or visit UT System’s Living Well Webinars page to see all four. All UTSA employees, retirees, spouses and dependents age 18 and above who are covered by the UT SELECT Medical Plan are eligible to participate.
- Hinge Health demo of this coach-led digital program for people suffering from chronic back, knee, hip or shoulder pain. Wednesday, April 15, noon to 12:30 p.m.
- MDLIVE demo of this interface for seeing a health care provider via video or phone. Thursday, April 16, 11:30 a.m. to noon.
- Omada demo of tools and support to help you create healthy habits that stick. It’s an approach shown to reduce risk factors for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Wednesday, April 22, 10 to 10:30 a.m.
- Livongo demo of resources to help manage your diabetes or hypertension digitally with the support of a certified coach and many other resources. Tuesday, April 28, 11:30 a.m. to noon.
