UTSA provides June 16 digest of remote-operations news and tips

JUNE 16, 2020 — UTSA is committed to supporting the university community during remote learning and operations. Here is your latest digest of university news and tips. 


PLANNING FOR THE FALL

UTSA is offering two sessions this week of a town hall about planning for the new academic year, including info on the recently released report from the university’s Public Health Task Force and tactical teams’ developing plans for academic and out-of-classroom program delivery. Each session will be dedicated to livestream viewers’ questions and an opportunity to offer input to help shape the work of the tactical teams. Both sessions will cover the same content and will be recorded for on-demand viewing. Additionally, there’s a new Fall Planning FAQ for reference. Livestream Session 1: Wednesday, June 17, 10 a.m. Livestream Session 2: Thursday, June 18, 2 p.m.


VIRTUAL EVENTS


A LITTLE BIT O’ MAGIC: Prepare to be amazed by performer Trigg Watson’s virtual high-tech magic in this special event, brought to you by Roadrunner Productions. Tune in via RowdyLink for some weeknight entertainment, where Watson will have you questioning the impossible and laughing at your screen. Wednesday, June 17, 6 p.m. via Zoom.


SUCCESS FOR SUMMER: Academic Innovation continues its Summer Digital Teaching Forum Series with Providing and Promoting Self-Motivation and Success. Thursday, June 18, 9 a.m. via Zoom.


CELEBRATE LIBERATION: Hosted by the Student Union in collaboration with the African American Studies program and the Multicultural Student Center for Equity and Justice, UTSA’s annual Juneteenth Celebration will include special messages from students and staff, a live poetry reading and a panel discussion to commemorate the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas. Friday, June 19, 11a.m. via Zoom.


HEALTH


GET REAL ON RECOVERY: The Center for Collegiate Recovery will host Recovery Table Talks for real discussions about experiences with addiction and recovery. Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate, with the goal of raising awareness on the struggles of addiction and recovery while working to bring an end to stigma. FIND HEALTH SOLUTIONS: UT System’s Living Well Webinars resume next week. All UTSA employees, retirees, spouses and dependents age 18 and over who are covered by the UT SELECT Medical Plan are eligible to participate.
