OCTOBER 6, 2020 — UTSA’s H-E-B Student Union Ballroom (HSU 1.104) on Main Campus will serve as a designated polling station during the early voting period, October 13–30, and on Election Day, November 3.
Gov. Greg Abbott extended the early voting period by six days through a proclamation due to COVID-19. The Downtown Campus community may also vote early at the Bexar County Elections Office located at 1103 S. Frio St., a short 12-minute walk from campus or just over a half-mile drive.
Although campus voter engagement efforts are primarily being conducted in a virtual capacity, there are plenty of opportunities to get engaged. The Multicultural Student Center for Equity and Justice’s Roadrunners in Action team is actively working with student and community organizations to provide fun and engaging activities, and some faculty members are integrating civic engagement efforts as part of their experiential community-engaged learning into their course work. A few examples include requesting students submit “Why I Vote” writing projects or short videos or to develop creative strategies for outreach to campus and community.
Roadrunners can prepare for the upcoming election by first checking their voter registration status at register2vote.org. For updated information in Bexar County, visit the Bexar County Elections Department and obtain a sample ballot prior to the election to better prepare for when you will cast your vote. Be prepared to show required identification for voting in person. Contact the Bexar County Elections Department for information about DeafLink technology for the hearing-impaired or Braille ballots for the visually impaired.
Work supervisors can grant employees a reasonable period of time off for voting during business hours. Employees should be current registered voters in order to qualify for the time off, according to HOP 4.20 Section 661.914.

Many college students can check to see if they are eligible to vote by mail if they will be living outside their home county on Election Day and during the early voting period. If you plan to vote by mail, you may request a mail-in ballot. Be mindful that deadlines to request a mail-in ballot and deadlines for the respective elections office to receive your mail-in ballots vary by state. Visit Vote411 to check deadlines and obtain a sample ballot for your state to review. It is recommended you visit the Elections Office website in your state to remain aware of any recent changes to election rules and deadlines.

- Sunday, October 18 / Noon to 6 p.m.
- Monday, October 19 to Saturday, October 24 / 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

- Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30 / 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Election Day
- Tuesday, November 3 / 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
