FEBRUARY 16, 2021 — Due to continued winter weather conditions and the potential for campus power disruption, UTSA is extending its campus closure through Friday night, February 19.

  • All online/virtual and in-person classes and meetings are canceled. Faculty are reminded to reschedule any tests, quizzes or class activities and to delay deadlines for any assignments that were to be turned in during the campus closure.
  • All university events, programs and activities are canceled, including athletics events.

  • Only those employees designated as having essential job functions supporting campus operations should report to work. All other employees (both telecommuting and in-person) and student workers do not need to report to work. If you have questions or concerns, contact your supervisor.
  • The university will adjust its academic calendar for teaching days missed this week. The last day of classes now will be May 7, 2021. Additional information regarding other deadlines that will be adjusted will be shared soon. The Spring Break holidays will continue as scheduled.

Additionally:

  • Daytime warming stations are available at the Main Campus. Location and hours of operation are available here.
  • For students living on campus, warming centers have also been opened at the Recreation Wellness Center and main city centers for both Chaparral Village and Laurel Village.
  • Roadrunner Café will operate under modified hours, opening at 10 a.m. for students living on campus. The late-night café will close at 10 p.m.
  • The Roadrunner Pantry will be open from noon to 4 p.m. through Sunday.
  • UTSA Libraries services and collections are accessible online.
  • All Counseling and Mental Health Services appointments and groups are canceled through Friday. Staff members will be in touch to reschedule affected appointments and will respond to messages left at 210-458-4140 (option 2). The crisis helpline remains available at 210-458-4140 (option 3).
  • Student Health Services will respond to phone calls from students from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday. A triage nurse and a medical provider will be on call to provide triage or medical services. Laboratory services will not be available. Students can call 210-458-4142 (option 3) to talk to the triage nurse. For any medical emergencies call 210-458-4911.
  • COVID-19 testing services, provided by Livingston Laboratories, will be closed until the university reopens.
  • The Child Development Center will be closed through Friday. Staff will report to work on Monday, February 22, for facility preparedness. The center will reopen at 7:30 a.m. to children on Tuesday, February 23. For questions, contact the center director at 210-995-7834.
  • The Rowdy Campus Store and Student Union office will remain closed through Friday.
  • The UTSACard and Campus Services office are closed. In the event of a lost card, install and use the GET app, which has a virtual card for dining.

Garages will continue to operate as usual—except top decks are closed off. Staff will not be present, much like on weekends, which allows permit and hourly paid parking as usual.

Facilities crews will treat streets, sidewalks and campus walkways to prepare for frozen precipitation. Campus walkways that accumulate ice will be blocked off.

UTSA will continue to monitor conditions and provide additional information as needed. Updates will be posted on UTSA Today and on the university’s official social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
