Eligible voters who did not vote in the March 1 primaries can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican runoff. Those who voted on March 1 will receive the ballot for the same party they voted for in the primary.
Texas is a state with open primaries. Voters can choose the party they would like to vote for in primary elections, regardless of which party they identify with. Primary runoffs, however, require individuals to vote within the party they selected in the primary according to Texas Election Code 162.012 and are not allowed to vote for one party during the primary and another during the runoff.
Voters are encouraged to take an “I Voted” selfie at least 100 feet from the polling station and tag the UTSA Office of Civic and Community-Engaged Leadership at @UTSAEngaged and #RowdyVOTES.
