The UTSA College of Liberal and Fine Arts (COLFA) has launched a new Student Success Center to enhance support services for students across the college. The center will combine the already successful programming in the college to provide an effective, one-stop resource center to help COLFA students achieve their academic, personal and professional goals.

“This new space, together with the diverse programming that it will house, stands as a testament to the value we place in the success of each and every COLFA student,” said Glenn Martinez, dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. “We want every COLFA student who walks in or by this space to sense our deep commitment to their individual academic and personal success.”

As part of UTSA’s new Academic Success District, the COLFA Student Success Center will offer tutoring, professional development workshops, experiential learning programs, leadership and academic programs, as well as career services for undergraduate and graduate students.

A full slate of services offered through the center will include:

  • Academic and professional workshops
    • Success strategies & resources
    • Career & academic exploration
  • Leadership and research opportunities
    • Student leadership program
    • COLFA research conference & showcase
    • Internships & employer engagements
  • Mentoring and community
    • Peer mentoring program
    • COLFA identity & connections

Additionally, the center will supply open space for COLFA students to study free of distraction as well as meeting space for student organizations.

“Students should know that our doors are open even if they do not need to take advantage of any specific service that we provide,” said Clarissa Martinez, director of the COLFA Student Success Center. “Keeping a warm, inviting space for students to study or work on class assignments is important to us. When a student does need an extra bit of support, they will know they can trust us to help them cross the finish line at UTSA or even step into their careers.”

The center will host a grand opening and open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, at the McKinney Humanities Building (MH 376) on the UTSA Main Campus. Interested students can RSVP on RowdyLink.
