UTSA President Taylor Eighmy will host a State of the University address at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 30, at the Buena Vista Theater at the Downtown Campus. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend in person or watch online via livestream. Attendees can expect the address to include three segments: a formal presentation, a panel discussion and a question-and-answer session.

Eighmy’s presentation will celebrate UTSA’s top moments from last year—including narratives around achieving Carnegie R1, launching a historic capital campaign, experiential learning and student success advancements, membership in the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities and more. He will also look ahead to the opportunities and anticipated milestones including updates on the strategic plan refresh, campus climate survey follow-up, capital campaign rollout, and capital projects updates.

The panel discussion, moderated by Eighmy, will celebrate colleagues’ contributions to the university and will explore how individual impact collectively advances UTSA to new heights. It will feature five panelists, including:

  • Jenny Hsieh, Semmes Foundation Distinguished Chair in Cell Biology; Professor and Chair of Neuroscience, Developmental and Regenerative Biology in the College of Sciences; Director of the UTSA Brain Health Consortium
  • Heather Green, Director of Annual Giving, University Development
  • Tina Garza, Associate Vice Provost, Enrollment Marketing, Communication & Systems
  • Sharon Martinez, Talent Acquisition Specialist
  • Erica McFarland, UTSA student

The final portion of the program will provide an opportunity for attendees to pose questions to Eighmy and panelists. Questions can be submitted in advance on the event webpage or live during the program using an on-screen QR code.
