The Bexar County Commissioners Court today issued a proclamation naming February 10 as “UTSA 210 Day.” The day celebrates the success of UTSA Athletics’ numerous sports, the rally cry “Let’s Go 210” and the strong ties forged between Roadrunners and San Antonio, a city that lies predominantly in the 210 area code.
UTSA President Taylor Eighmy, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletics Director Lisa Campos, Vice President for University Relations Teresa Nino, Head Football Coach Jeff Traylor and Associate Vice President of Community and Government Relations Albert Carrisalez joined Precinct 1 Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, Precinct 2 Commissioner Justin Rodriguez, Precinct 3 Commissioner Grant Moody and Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert to commemorate the proclamation, read by County Judge Peter Sakai.
The proclamation honors UTSA Athletics’ rapid growth, its success in various sports and its symbolism as a source of pride for San Antonio and Bexar County:
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS UTSA Athletics was established in 1981; and
WHEREAS UTSA is San Antonio’s nationally recognized NCAA Division I program; and
WHEREAS UTSA Athletics has experienced rapid growth and success in numerous sports; and
WHEREAS UTSA Athletics has captured 80 conference championships and made more than 60 NCAA postseason appearances; and
WHEREAS UTSA’s recent success and increasing national recognition has resulted in an invitation to join the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023; and
WHEREAS The San Antonio community has rallied around and supported UTSA sporting events in large numbers; and
WHEREAS 210 is the primary area code associated with and is a source of pride for San Antonio and Bexar County; and
WHEREAS UTSA has united the San Antonio and Bexar County community through its “Let’s Go 210” rally cry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Bexar County Commissioners Court hereby recognizes and proclaims that:
February 10 be annually recognized in Bexar County as
“UTSA 210 Day”
And we call upon the People of Bexar County to join us in supporting UTSA Athletics.
