Before UTSA Roadrunners Football hits the field in early September for its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference, the team will meet some of its biggest supporters — their fans.
UTSA fans will have the opportunity to meet the players and head coach Jeff Traylor from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 at the Convocation Center on the Main Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Fans will have a chance to obtain autographs from the members of the team. Posters will be provided to each fan for signatures. Other items are discouraged to prevent congestion in the autograph line.
While at the event, fans will also have an opportunity to snag photos with the Conference USA Championship trophies. Inflatables will be set up for the youngest Roadrunner fans to enjoy.
Visitors can park for free in unmarked spaces in the lots surrounding the Convocation Center. Concessions and merchandise will be available for purchase at the event.
The Roadrunners will kick off their 12th season on Saturday, September 2 at Houston. The match-up will be UTSA’s second visit to TDECU Stadium and the first since a 27-7 UTSA victory that opened the facility on August 29, 2014.
The Roadrunners will then return home to face I-35 rival Texas State for the home opener on September 9 at the Alamodome. UTSA has won all four of its previous matchups with the Bobcats.
Under the direction of Traylor, the Roadrunners are coming off an 11-3 campaign that saw them capture their second straight C-USA Championship and play in a bowl game for the third year in a row. UTSA has been ranked in the top 25 in each of the last two seasons and boasts a combined 23 wins over that span, the fourth-best total among all NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision teams, behind only Georgia (29), Michigan (25) and Alabama (24).
The university joined the American Athletic Conference on July 1 of this year. Earlier this week, UTSA football was projected to place second, following Tulane, in the conference’s 2023 standings.
