MARCH 7, 2024 — UTSA, Centro and VIA are partnering on a pilot program to provide free an e-shuttle service in downtown San Antonio. The courtesy shuttles will provide quick and reliable transportation throughout the downtown area beginning Monday, March 18.
The e-shuttles will be known as The Little Runner, in a nod to The Runner, UTSA’s Main Campus transit service. The Little Runner supports the success of our Roadrunners by making it easier for students to travel between the Downtown Campus, San Pedro I and the Southwest Campus.

The Little Runner e-shuttles are free to use and available to UTSA students, faculty and staff.. Riders can board a shuttle at a designated stop or call one to their location through an app or by phone. Learn more about hours of operation and how to ride the shuttles on the Campus Services webpage.
“This is one way we are enhancing the campus experience for our Roadrunners,” said Mary Hernandez, senior associate vice president for administration and operations. “By connecting our downtown locations and making it easy to travel from place to place we support the success and safety of our campus community.”
The new e-shuttle service also supports a sustainable future for UTSA’s downtown locations. The use of e-shuttles reduces reliance on single-occupancy vehicles and can cut down on downtown traffic congestion. Additionally, all of The Little Runner e-shuttles are electric and emission free.
The pilot program runs through Saturday, Aug. 31. During the pilot period, UTSA will receive valuable information on use and ridership that will help inform decisions about long-term transportation needs between the university’s downtown locations.
