In 2021, UTSA launched the ITC Centennial 2068 initiative, an extensive community engagement, visioning and evaluative process to improve the financial stability and accessibility of the Institute of Texan Cultures. As a result of this process, three strategic next steps were announced in April.
As part of those strategic next steps, we are preparing to relocate the ITC museum to a temporary location in Frost Tower. At the same time, we continue to work diligently to finalize a future permanent home for the museum.
The ITC museum will close in its current space at the end of May to allow time for the continued careful preservation and storage of the museum collections. To honor the museum’s past and celebrate its exciting future, we invite all friends of the ITC to join us for an open house during our regular business hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, May 31. This special day will include opportunities for interactive memory sharing and building excitement for the museum’s next chapter.
Additionally, we will host a special UTSA podcast series over the coming weeks on the ITC museum. These podcasts will feature voices from leaders across the university and will focus on our treasured collections, growing opportunities for academic partnerships and the journey to the museum’s new permanent home. We hope you will join us in listening and learning about the future of the ITC.
