UTSA community invited to join San Antonio’s MLK March on Monday, January 20

DECEMBER 10, 2024 — The UTSA community will stand alongside thousands to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at San Antonio’s 2025 MLK Day March on Monday, January 20.

The 2.75-mile march will begin at 10 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, located at 3501 Martin Luther King Dr. and will conclude at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa St. UTSA students, faculty, staff, alumni and their families are invited to participate in this annual event, the largest MLK March in the nation.

King was a minister and social activist who led the civil rights movement within the United States. His leadership was fundamental to the movement’s progress toward ending the legal segregation of African Americans in the South and throughout the country. King is widely regarded as America’s pre-eminent advocate of nonviolence and one of the greatest nonviolent leaders in world history.

UTSA will provide free shuttle rides from the Main and Downtown Campuses as well as a complimentary commemorative t-shirt for each participant, while supplies last. Roadrunners and their guests will march together behind a UTSA banner to show support and solidarity.

Participants are asked to register as a member of the UTSA delegation, even if they plan to provide their own transportation to the event.
