Marcela Cabello ’13, MPA ’23, has been selected for the highly competitive 2025–26 National Association of College and University Business Officers Emerging Leaders Program.
Cabello is associate director of business operations for UT San Antonio’s Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
She is one of a select group of professionals nationwide chosen for the yearlong cohort, which is designed to prepare rising leaders to meet the complex challenges of higher education finance and administration.
“I am thrilled to see Marcela recognized on a national stage,” said Karl Miller-Lugo, senior vice president for advancement and alumni engagement. “She has been a trusted leader within our team, and her dedication to strengthening our operations has made a real difference in our success.”
Participants engage in virtual learning sessions, a national workshop, mentorship opportunities and peer-to-peer collaboration. Cabello also received a scholarship from the association to support her participation.
With more than 17 years of service to UT San Antonio, Cabello has held positions in the University Career Center, the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design and now Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
In her current role, Cabello provides critical leadership for the division’s operations team, overseeing business support services including budget management, financial processes and administrative operations.
Her work helps ensure the long-term strength and efficiency of the division, supporting its mission to advance the university through philanthropy and alumni engagement.
“This opportunity reflects her hard work and talent, and I know she will represent UT San Antonio with distinction while bringing back new insights to benefit our community,” Miller-Lugo said.
