More than $19 million.
That’s the amount that UT San Antonio employees have contributed since 1997 to charities across Texas through the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC).
But time is running out for the 2025 campaign, which ends Nov. 1.
With two days left to give, organizers are urging faculty and staff to finish strong and show how UT San Antonio leads the way in generosity and community impact.
What is the SECC?
University staff and faculty come together annually to give back through the SECC, which allows employees of state agencies like UT San Antonio to donate to an array of local, statewide and national charities via a one-time gift or through payroll deduction.

By participating, employees raise funds that provide much-needed help to programs on campus, throughout Bexar County and beyond.
“I give because I’ve seen the real difference our dollars make in people’s lives right here in our community,” said UT San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy.
“Giving is one small way that I help make UT San Antonio a place that I am very proud of,” added Francisco Cigarroa, MD, senior executive vice president for Health Affairs and Health System.
How does the campaign work?
UT San Antonio vice presidents are running participation activities within their divisions. You can join in the activities by finding your division’s campaign coordinator on the SECC website.
Giving is easy and convenient:
- Choose from hundreds of organizations, using the full statewide list or the San Antonio specific list to find your favorites. There is a wide array of participating organizations — focused on everything from Alzheimer’s and cancer research to veteran support and animal care service. In addition, there are six UT San Antonio agencies that directly support employees and students in need:
-
- Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society (#414026)
- First Generation and Transfer Student Center (#413004)
- Fostering Educational Success Center (#413004)
- Roadrunner Pantry (#413006)
- Roadrunner Staff Emergency Fund – UTSA (#413008)
- Staff Emergency Fund – UTHSA (#413192)
- Click the orange Make Your Gift button at the top of the campaign page, follow the steps and click submit. All charities participating in the campaign meet strict eligibility criteria to qualify, so donors can be confident their contribution is going directly towards the work of selected charities.
Why should I give?
Giving through the SECC allows donors to support a favorite cause or charity and provide meaningful assistance to the local community. Aside from participating in a worthy cause, all donations are tax-deductible.
A gift of any size can make a world of difference to the charities in this campaign.
