UT San Antonio is partnering with the nonprofit Toys for Tots organization to collect toys for children in need during the holiday season. The Public Safety office announced it is once again providing drop-off locations across the campus.

“Every year, we look for ways to give back and make a difference in our community,” said Sgt. Eric Weber. “Partnering with Toys for Tots is something we’re particularly proud of, as it gives us the opportunity to bring smiles to local children and families.”

The Roadrunner community is invited to participate by donating new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 3.

Weber said all kinds of toys are welcome, big or small, and they’ve already collected everything from board games to basketballs, and a few plush Squishmallow toys.

Drop-off boxes are located in these locations:

  • Main Campus, Bosque Street Building, Police Department lobby
  • Main Campus, Student Union Room 1.00.40, Community Engagement Office
  • Downtown Campus, Frio Street Building Room 1.02.28, Public Safety Office

“I hope everyone at the university will join us in spreading holiday cheer and helping make this season brighter for those who need it most.”

Founded more than 75 years ago, Toys for Tots works with community members, organizations and partners throughout San Antonio every year to deliver millions of gifts to children in need.

Weber said he supports the organization because he believes every child deserves to experience the joy of the holidays.

“A simple gift can make a meaningful difference, and donating is a way for me to give back and help brighten the season for families in our community,” he said. “While those who donated don’t actually get to see the child receiving the gift, it’s the knowledge that we were able to brighten someone’s Christmas.”
