2025 was another banner year for UT San Antonio with record growth in student enrollment this fall for the third consecutive year.
A historic 38,200-plus students enrolled in classes for the Fall 2025 semester — reflecting a 7% increase over last year’s official enrollment of 35,770 — according to preliminary data from the UTSA Office of Institutional Research and Analysis.
The growth was due largely to the university welcoming the largest incoming class in its history.
Student interest in UT San Antonio continued in October when more than three times as many students applied for admission as in the same month in 2024. During the first-ever Texas Free College Application Week, Oct. 13-19, UT San Antonio received 16,000 applications from prospective students.
The university responded this fall to its growth in students by expanding its academic landscape with several new degree and certificate programs.
The added programs, developed in close consultation with faculty, industry experts and the university’s employer partners, are designed to give students a competitive edge and make them leaders in their chosen professions.
For its efforts on this front and more, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board named UT San Antonio among six institutions across the state as recipient of the 2025 Texas Higher Education Star Award.
The award recognizes colleges and universities for their commitment to promoting student success and career development through workforce-aligned programming.
UT San Antonio received the 2025 Star Award for its Najim Strategist Program, a hands-on, project-based learning opportunity where students work as paid consultants for local companies.
