The UT San Antonio Alumni Association will host the 41st annual Diploma Dash 5K, presented by North Park Subaru, at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Convocation Center at the university’s Main Campus.

Now in its 41st year, the Diploma Dash is more than a race. It is a long-standing campus tradition that brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members in support of student success. Nearly 2,000 runners are expected to take part, running through the heart of campus while helping fund scholarships for future Roadrunners.

“The Diploma Dash is one of those traditions that captures what it means to be a Roadrunner,” said Laura Beth Garcia, ’06, ’11, president of the UT San Antonio Alumni Board. “It brings together our alumni, students and community in a way that is both fun and deeply meaningful, while directly supporting students as they work toward their degrees.”

Participants compete in multiple categories and divisions, including masters, top dog, and awards for the fastest teams, students and UT San Antonio departments. All registered runners will receive a commemorative medal celebrating both personal achievement and the legacy of the event.

Following the race, participants are invited to enjoy a post-race festival featuring food, drinks and giveaways.

Established in 1985, the Diploma Dash has grown into one of San Antonio’s largest chip-timed racing events and a major source of scholarship support for students.

This year, the Alumni Association aims to raise more than $150,000 to support student scholarships. Proceeds from the race help students move their education across the finish line and prepare for their careers, while also supporting alumni programs and engagement efforts.

“What makes the Diploma Dash special is the impact behind every mile,” Garcia said. “This family-friendly event offers something for everyone while helping open doors for students and strengthening the culture of support that defines UT San Antonio.”
