More than 1,800 participants, both in-person and virtually, came together at the 41st annual Diploma Dash 5K, presented by North Park Subaru, to help break barriers and expand access to higher education for all Roadrunners.
The annual event raised over $100,000 in support of the UT San Antonio Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, which awards more than $150,000 annually to UT San Antonio students.
“As board chair for Diploma Dash, this event is especially meaningful to me because it represents the very best of UT San Antonio,” said Melissa Adame ’98. “This event reconnects our alumni to campus, promotes health and wellness, and strengthens our Roadrunner community. It is powerful to see so many people rally around student success. The energy at the event is always electric and joyful. That is why it matters.”
Kim Treviño-Kiraly, director of alumni strategic partnerships, reflected on experiencing her first Diploma Dash as a new UT San Antonio staff member.
“As a new team member to the amazing Alumni Association, seeing my first Diploma Dash in real time was not only fun and exciting but a tremendous gift to be part of,” Treviño-Kiraly said. “I was blown away by the dedication and hard work our team put into making Dash successful, especially our events team. It was an honor to work with our board chair, Melissa, to help reach our fundraising goals, and I loved meeting alumni and sponsors who help make events like this happen. More than anything, it was wonderful to see so many people come together for a good cause, and all the pups running was just the icing on the cake. Birds Up!”

This year’s event included members of the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth Alumni Chapters. More than 200 volunteers also helped make the day possible.
Hosted annually by the UT San Antonio Alumni Association, the Diploma Dash 5K unites alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members in a shared commitment to supporting the next generation of Roadrunners.
Through collective generosity and school spirit, the Roadrunner community continues to invest in student success on and off campus.
