Tuesday, March 3, is Election Day for the joint primary election, where voters select candidates from their political party for many federal, state and county races.
The UT San Antonio Main Campus is a designated voting site for the primary election. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to make their voices heard by voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Registered Bexar County voters at the Main Campus can cast their ballot at the H-E-B Student Union Bexar Room (HSU 1.102). There will be free spaces for short-term voter parking identified in the northern section of the Ximenes Lot.
Registered voters closer to the Downtown Campus can vote at the nearby Bexar County Elections Department located at 1103 S. Frio St. in San Antonio.
All voters must present an approved form of photo identification. Voters are prohibited from using electronic devices within 100 feet of polling locations but are welcome to take printed voter guides with them to the voting booth.
If no candidate of a particular race receives a majority of the vote in the primary, the top two vote-getters will compete in a runoff on Tuesday, May 26. Texas is an open-primary state, meaning voters can choose either a Republican or Democratic ballot. Voters can then vote only in that same party’s runoff; this will not affect available choices in the general election.
