UT San Antonio is recognizing 227 faculty members who earned promotions across the university’s academic colleges and health schools, effective Sept. 1.
“Promotion and tenure recognize years of dedication, achievement and innovation,” said Heather Shipley, provost and senior executive vice president for academic affairs. “The faculty honored this year have distinguished themselves through work that advances UT San Antonio’s mission and strengthens our academic community. We are proud to celebrate these accomplishments and to recognize our emeritus faculty, whose contributions have left a lasting mark on our university.”
Among the faculty promoted, 128 are from the university’s academic schools and colleges, while 99 are from its health professional schools.
Faculty earn tenure based on their accomplishments in each of three categories of performance: teaching, research/scholarship/creative activities and service.
In addition, 22 retired faculty members were awarded emeritus status in honor of their years of valued service and contribution to the university’s mission.
