Today is the last day of the third annual UTSA Giving Day. All gifts made online before 7 p.m. will count toward the total and help set new records for giving to UTSA.

UTSA Giving Day started strong on April 4 with hundreds of donors showing their pride by supporting a project via the UTSA Giving Day website. The overall goal is 3,000 donors in just 1,969 minutes from all 50 U.S. states. There are more than 50 participating programs across the university’s campuses.

There are multiple opportunities for donors to amplify their gifts through matching and participation challenges. Generous supporters have pledged to match gifts or have their gifts unlock based on participation within their preferred colleges or units. For example, when the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design raises $25,000, then an additional gift of $25,000 from the Klesses will be unlocked. The Alvarez College of Business also has a $25,000 challenge gift from an anonymous donor that will unlock when 200 unique donors make gifts to the college.

“Something that I love about UTSA Giving Day is that everyone can participate and help the programs they care about most by making a gift.”

The final power hour is 5–7 p.m. today, and the project with the largest number of donors during that time will be awarded an additional $2,000.

The leaderboards are tracking real-time results for the colleges and programs participating, and the final challenges are still to be decided. The program with the greatest number of donors will earn $5,000, thanks to a generous sponsorship from April Ancira ’03. The group with the most dollars raised will receive $5,000, sponsored by longtime UTSA supporters Jan Puckett and John Richardson.

“Something that I love about UTSA Giving Day is that everyone can participate and help the programs they care about most by making a gift and also by just sharing on social media,” said UTSA Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement Karl Miller-Lugo. “Participation is our number one goal, because together we can make a big difference. Our students are deserving of our support and, until the final minute, there is still time to have an impact on UTSA Giving Day.”
