More than $205 million. That’s the amount that State of Texas employees have contributed to charities across Texas through the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) since 1993. Roadrunner faculty and staff are encouraged to continue their tradition of charitable giving through SECC and play a key role in supporting the San Antonio nonprofit community.
What is the SECC?
Every year, staff and faculty come together to give back through the SECC, which allows employees of state agencies like UTSA to donate to an array of local, statewide and national charities via a one-time gift or through payroll deduction. UTSA partners annually with the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County on the SECC.
By participating, Roadrunners are raising funds that will provide much-needed help to programs on campus, throughout Bexar County and beyond.
“UTSA is proud to partner with the United Way as we work together to solve critical issues facing our community,” said UTSA Senior Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Enterprise Development Officer Veronica Salazar.
“The SECC is a unique opportunity for UTSA employees to join with other organizations throughout the state to make a positive impact in our local communities. Through the SECC, we can demonstrate our generous Roadrunner spirit of giving,” added Salazar, who serves on the United Way Advisory Council.
How does the campaign work?
UTSA vice presidents will be running participation activities within their divisions and enjoying some friendly competition to see which teams have the highest participation rates. Find your division’s campaign representative by visiting the SECC website.
Giving is easy and convenient.
- ’Runners can select from a list of 500+ nonprofits to find organizations that play a key role in our community. Agencies such as The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio (Charity #415017), Animal Defense League of Texas (#75007), and the Roadrunner Pantry (#413006) are just a few of the many participating this year.
- Click the orange Make Your Gift button at the top of the campaign page, follow the steps and click submit. All charities in the campaign meet strict eligibility criteria to qualify, so donors can be confident their contribution is going directly towards the work of selected charities.
Why should I give?
