APRIL 20, 2024 — UTSA’s latest signature event builds on a long-standing tradition of promoting art and culture in San Antonio. Starting as a modest fair in 1973, it has now become a prominent feature of the annual Fiesta San Antonio celebration.
In partnership with the UTSA Alumni Association, the 49th Annual UTSA Fiesta Arts Fair will take place this weekend on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. This is the third year the event will take place at the historic UTSA Southwest Campus, formerly known as the Southwest School of Art. The university invites the San Antonio community to attend the two-day, family-friendly event that gathers approximately 12,000 annually and directly supports UTSA’s mission to advance the arts in San Antonio.
The vibrant event features contemporary art from more than 100 artists from across the U.S., Fiesta favorite foods, drinks, live music by local and regional performers and a Young Artists Garden, which will provide opportunities for budding artists to learn, explore and express their creativity.
The fundraiser will provide operating support for UTSA Arts, which is dedicated to community arts education for children and adults, public-facing performances and exhibitions, and arts-based research and partnerships to enhance the public’s accessibility to the arts.
UTSA Arts includes the Young Artists Program, Teen Studio Intensive, Saturday Morning Discovery and adult community classes, which all take place at the UTSA Southwest Campus.
The UTSA Fiesta Arts Fair is supported by more than 550 volunteers who donate their time and talents to making the event successful. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities to choose from, including coupon sales, admissions, the Young Artist Garden and artist relief. Opportunities to volunteer are still available, and volunteers will receive free admission for the day of their scheduled shift as well as discounts on merchandise.
