Editor’s note: UT San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy sent this message to all UT San Antonio faculty, staff and students on Nov. 20.

As we enter Thanksgiving week, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to each member of our UT San Antonio community. This season naturally invites reflection, and in my own reflections, I am especially grateful for the dedication and commitment our faculty, staff and students bring to our shared mission every day.

This has been a pivotal year for us. In September, we marked a historic milestone as we became one unified institution — a powerhouse university with a shared purpose to support our students, advance research and elevate patient care. It is remarkable to see how quickly our community has embraced this moment and begun shaping what comes next.

We have also celebrated significant achievements that speak to the strength and momentum of our work. We concluded our Be Bold Campaign with a remarkable $575 million in support. We helped launch the Texas Cyber Command, positioning our university at the forefront of statewide cybersecurity efforts. We affirmed our continued accreditation through SACSCOC as a merged institution. And most recently, we commemorated the opening of the Center for Brain Health, a new beacon of hope for our community and a powerful example of how education, research and patient care come together to make lives better.

None of this happens without you. Your expertise, dedication and resilience during this time of transition have been extraordinary. It truly takes all of us, working together, to move this university forward. I am grateful for the progress we’ve made and inspired by the possibilities ahead as we continue to build a world-class institution that expands opportunities and strengthens our region.

As you head into the holiday, I hope you will take time for rest, connection and reflection on both your individual contributions and our shared accomplishments. Thank you for everything you do to advance UT San Antonio. I wish you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving.
