After three consecutive blowouts of American Conference opponents at the Alamodome this season, the UTSA football team is aiming for one more when it hosts Army in the regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 29. The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m.
The Roadrunners (6-5 overall, 4-3 in the American Conference) are flying high following a powerful performance against East Carolina last weekend. UTSA jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back on its way to a 58-24 victory over a Pirates team with conference championship aspirations. The win secured a sixth consecutive season of bowl eligibility for the Roadrunners.
UTSA quarterback Owen McCown completed a career-high five touchdown passes — the second-most in a game by a Roadrunner — while running back Will Henderson III registered his second straight game of 100-plus rushing yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Shad Banks Jr. posted 10 tackles, returned an interception for a touchdown and recovered a fumble. Banks picked up a pair of weekly accolades for his tremendous performance against East Carolina. He was named to Pro Football Focus’ National Team of the Week at linebacker, and was chosen as the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The lopsided win over the Pirates was the latest in a string of successful Alamodome outings for the Roadrunners. In its previous two home games, UTSA piled up points in a 61-13 win over Rice and dominated a nationally-ranked Tulane squad for an impressive 48-26 victory.
The Roadrunners have still never lost a conference game at home under head coach Jeff Traylor. Since Traylor’s first season at UTSA in 2020, the Roadrunners are a perfect 23-0 in regular-season conference home games (and 25-0 when including the 2021 and 2022 Conference USA Championship Games hosted at the Alamodome). UTSA is the only team in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with an undefeated record in conference home games in the 2020s.
But here’s where the plot thickens: UTSA has never defeated Army (5-5 overall, 3-4 in the American Conference) in a home game. In fact, Traylor has only lost four total home games as the head coach at UTSA and half of them have been to Army. The Black Knights have prevailed over the Roadrunners in all three of their previous matchups in San Antonio — in 2019, 2020 and 2023. Saturday will be their first matchup in the Alamodome as conference foes. UTSA joined the American Conference in 2023 and Army joined in 2024.
The Roadrunners are hoping one of the biggest crowds of the season will give them the home-field advantage they need to end Army’s winning streak in the Alamo City.

Salute to Armed Forces
Any time Army and UTSA face off in Military City USA, it’s a special occasion. Saturday will be no different.
The season finale will serve as the annual Salute to Armed Forces game presented by USAA. There will be special in-game moments honoring the military community throughout the afternoon, including recognition of U.S. Marine Corps veteran Mike Egan, who just set a new world record by covering 152 miles in a wheelchair in 24 hours.
As part of the partnership between USAA and UTSA Athletics, USAA employees, members and military ID holders can receive a discount of 15% off tickets for this Saturday’s Salute to Armed Forces game. Those eligible can click here to purchase these discounted tickets.
Over the course of the 2024-25 athletic calendar, USAA donated $10 for every Roadrunner point scored by teams across all of UTSA Athletics. This amounted to a donation of $26,650 for the UT San Antonio Center for Military Affiliated Students, which supports more than 5,000 service members, veterans and their families at the university as they pursue their educational goals.
Senior Day
The UTSA football team will honor its seniors in a pregame ceremony on the field. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at approximately 2:08 p.m., so fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 2 p.m. to celebrate a senior class that has won more than 50 games, captured a pair of conference championships and has helped the UTSA program reach its sixth consecutive bowl game.
The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition “Birds Up” foam finger courtesy of USAA.
