The University of Texas at San Antonio community will come together March 31 through April 2 for a historic UT San Antonio Giving Day. The event marks the first Giving Day campaign for the newly integrated UT San Antonio, creating inspiring opportunities to support all of the university’s students, academics, research and programs that make lives better. During this expanded 48-hour celebration of giving, the university community comprised of alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, physicians, health professionals, friends and community partners will unite as one community.

Since its launch in 2021, UT San Antonio Giving Day has raised more than $3.3 million to support student success and key initiatives. Donors give to a wide range of funds supporting academic colleges and schools, student programs, Roadrunner Athletics, UT San Antonio Libraries and Museums, the Roadrunner Food Pantry as well as scholarships and endowments.

For the first time, donors will also be able to support funds connected to UT Health San Antonio, including the Mays Cancer Center and the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases — remarkable cornerstones for research and patient care serving South Texas. In total, 20 funds supporting health research, patient care and medical education will be available as part of this year’s Giving Day.

“UT San Antonio Giving Day reflects the incredible spirit and generosity of our university community,” said UT San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy. “This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate our first Giving Day as an integrated institution. Together, our community’s support helps expand opportunities for our students while advancing research, discovery, and health innovations that are improving lives across our city, state, and nation.”

This year’s event will extend for a full 48 hours, beginning at noon on March 31 and continuing through noon on April 2, with gifts counted toward the fundraising initiative throughout the entire period. During this time, donors will have opportunities to increase their impact through matching gifts and special challenges.

Among this year’s featured challenges:

  • Oladapo Olaleye will unlock a $20,000 gift to the Alvarez College of Business if 75 gifts are made to the college before midnight on April 1.
  • Gifts to the President’s Associates Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 by Nancy ’93, ’95 and Andrew Ozuna ’91.
  • When the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design raises $25,000 in gifts, Margie and Bill Klesse will unlock an additional $25,000 for the Klesse College Excellence Fund which supports scholarships, tutoring, student research and enhancements to faculty programs and facilities.

“What makes Giving Day so powerful is the way the UT San Antonio community rallies together in support of our mission,” said Karl Miller-Lugo, senior vice president for advancement and alumni engagement. “From scholarships and student programs to research and now health initiatives, every gift helps strengthen the work happening across our university and expands the impact we can make together.”

University supporters can participate in UT San Antonio Giving Day by making a gift, attending Giving Day events or spreading the word through their networks. Community members can also sign up to serve as Giving Day advocates, helping encourage others to support the causes that matter most to them.

“UT San Antonio Giving Day highlights the powerful connection between us, education, research and health,” said Francisco Cigarroa, senior executive vice president for health affairs and health system at UT San Antonio. “As we come together for the first time as an integrated university, the generosity of our community will help advance discoveries, strengthen patient care and create new opportunities to improve the health of families across San Antonio and South Texas.”
