Beginning in Fall 2026, The University of Texas at San Antonio will expand its Bold Promise tuition assistance program to include qualifying undergraduates at its Health Science Center.
The UT San Antonio Health Science Center Bold Promise Program ensures that eligible students have their tuition and mandatory fees fully covered for up to four academic semesters while completing the final two years of their undergraduate degree, provided they maintain academic eligibility.
The expansion of the program further broadens opportunities for current Bold Promise recipients to pursue qualifying undergraduate clinical and preclinical healthcare programs at the Health Science Center. It also increases financial support for new students applying to the School of Nursing, School of Dentistry, and School of Health Professions.
To qualify for the Health Science Center Bold Promise, students must submit the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 31, be admitted and enrolled in an eligible undergraduate program at the Health Science Center and meet either of the following criteria:
- Be currently receiving and maintaining eligibility for Bold Promise at UT San Antonio and have not exceeded the maximum time frame (eight academic semesters)
OR - Be classified as a Texas resident with a total family income of $100,000 or less
Bold Promise will be available to eligible students in the following undergraduate programs at the Health Science Center in the 2026-27 academic year:
- Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, San Antonio
- Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, Laredo
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing – traditional track (also includes new students in spring 2027)
- Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care
Students enrolled in 100% online bachelor’s programs or who are seeking a second bachelor’s degree are not eligible for Bold Promise.
UT San Antonio launched Bold Promise in 2019 and admitted the first cohort of student recipients in Fall 2020. In 2022, the university partnered with Alamo Colleges District to introduce AlamoPromise to UT San Antonio Bold Promise allowing eligible students to start at any of the five Alamo Colleges and then transfer to UT San Antonio to complete a four-year degree while having educational costs covered at both institutions. In 2024 and with support from the UT System Promise Plus program, UT San Antonio increased the family income eligibility criteria to $100,000 to provide Bold Promise to more incoming students.
Nearly 5,000 current UT San Antonio students are pursuing their educational and career goals through Bold Promise.
