About U.S. News & World Report
The U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings evaluate programs using criteria such as research activity, faculty resources, student excellence and peer assessments.
Medical schools share a core mission; they often emphasize different institutional strengths. To reflect these differences, U.S. News Best Medical Schools rankings evaluates schools using two frameworks: Best Medical Schools: Research and Best Medical Schools: Primary Care. Both models consider faculty resources and the academic credentials of entering students. The research list emphasizes research productivity, while the primary care list focuses on graduates entering primary care fields. For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report uses the evaluative tiers instead of traditional ordinal rankings.
*The Tier 2 ranking indicates 50-84th percentile.
