Saturday, May 16, will be an exciting, joyful day for more than 4,000 students from UT San Antonio’s academic campus as they obtain their degrees during the university’s Commencement ceremonies, surrounded by the adoration of friends and family. On Sunday, May 17, and every day after, those same graduates can feel confident knowing that they’ve acquired the marketable skills and necessary experience to thrive in their new careers.

Preparing students to succeed beyond graduation is central to UT San Antonio’s mission.

The university fosters an environment rooted in hands-on learning and real-world application. UT San Antonio offers hundreds of experiential learning opportunities in a vast array of disciplines. Students acquire career-shaping skills through internships with leading employers, undergraduate research alongside faculty, on-campus employment, global study abroad opportunities and service-based community partnerships.

These opportunities often deepen academic learning and empower students to apply their knowledge in dynamic settings where they can lead, collaborate and solve problems. They also give graduates the opportunity to build their own confidence and adaptability — qualities sought by employers in San Antonio, across Texas and beyond.

Resources such as the University Career Center play a key role in preparing students through career fairs, resume-building and interview workshops. The center’s staff is dedicated to working with students and alumni to help them transition into careers that align with their professional goals.

The University Career Center collaborates with all of UT San Antonio’s colleges and schools, as well as offices like the Center for Civic and Community-Engaged Leadership, the Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement, the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Institute for Law and Public Affairs to ensure student success.
