(Aug. 6, 2018) — UTSA alumni and friends are preparing to gather this coming weekend to confer three awards and raise funds for scholarships and programming.  There are just a few days left to purchase tables or individual seats for this year’s Alumni Gala on Aug. 11 at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort.  The evening features a dinner and silent auction followed by an after party with music by the band Finding Friday.

The Alumni Association will honor two alumni and a local entrepreneur with awards at the Gala: Linda Montgomery ’87 will received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Randy Vogel ’79 will be named Alumnus of the Year, and San Antonio entrepreneur David Spencer will receive the Distinguished Service Award.  The awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the university and to the UTSA Alumni Association.

For the first time, bidding for the Alumni Gala silent auction will be available online.  The silent auction is filled with exclusive items, including:

  • autographed Marcus Davenport ’17 UTSA football jersey
  • suite for up to 18 guests for an upcoming San Antonio Spurs game
  • art from local artists, such as Abraham Mojica, Jesus Toro Martinez, and Veronica Castillo
  • bourbon, cigars and dinner experience
  • suite for 16 guests to watch UTSA Football games
  • sport memorabilia, hotel/resort stays, jewelry and much more.

Items will be available online beginning August 10.

“We are excited to take the auction beyond the event and give all alumni and friends an opportunity to bid on some great items,” said Kristin Ludwig, UTSA Alumni Association executive director.  “The funds raised support our UTSA Alumni Association scholarship program, so each bid will make a difference for students.”

Departments and individuals wishing to support Alumni Gala should register to attend by Aug. 6.
