(Aug. 22, 2018) — The semester is underway. While students are getting the hang of their classes and navigating campus, there are a number of fun events between or after class for students to experience on the Main and Downtown Campuses.
Roadrunner Days is a wonderful time to connect with fellow Roadrunners while becoming familiar with the campus. Students can network at events all week before their course loads pick up.
Networking Socials – Day 2
8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Student Union, Harris Room (HSU 2.212) and Travis Room (HSU 2.202), Main Campus
The Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion hosts Community Networking Socials during Roadrunner Day that focus on UTSA’s diverse population. All Networking Socials are casual come and go events for all Roadrunners. Attendees do not have to identify with the population group indicated.

Free 1st Day of Classes Pic
11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Student Union Paseo, Main Campus
Students can stop by the photo station and capture forever memories with friends on the first week of classes. Share with friends and family via social media using #UTSARRDays. UTSA Involvement Ambassadors will also be passing out goodie bags.
Tomás Rivera Center Open House – Downtown Campus
1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Durango Building Tomás Rivera Center (DB 2.114), Downtown Campus
Join the TRC staff at this open house for fun activities and refreshments while learning about
its student services including tutoring, academic success coaching and other fun activities and refreshments.
The Roadrunner Life Hacks – Day 2
1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Student Union, Harris Room (HSU 2.212) and Travis Room (HSU 2.202), Main Campus
UTSA has students covered with tips to help them survive and thrive through their academic career. This new workshop series kicks off today providing information about common issues and questions students may have as they navigate university life. Presentations are led by university staff and student leaders who can share their knowledge and experience providing guidance about university life. Find out more about sessions and times.
Welcome Social for First-Gen and Transfer Students
4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Student Union, Harris Room (HSU 2.212) and Travis Room (HSU 2.202), Main Campus
Nearly half of undergraduates at UTSA are the first in their families to earn a college degree and many more have transferred from another college. As a place that fosters diversity and belonging, UTSA has a new center where first-generation and transfer students can find resources to help them during their academic journey. The First-Gen and Transfer Student Center is hosting this event to introduce the students and their families to the programs and information available specifically to them to help them succeed. There will be music, food and opportunities to connect with other students who can relate to this new experience at UTSA.
Bird’s Up, Downtown – featuring Paletas with the Prez!
4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Bill Miller Plaza, Downtown Campus
Kick off the school year in the heart of the Downtown Campus with music, food, games and giveaways. Grab a paleta and say hi to President Eighmy.
Fraternity|Sorority Life Mix & Mingle
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Student Union Lawn, Main Campus
This is an opportunity for students to meet-and-greet members of the Fraternity|Sorority Life community and make new Roadrunner friends. The Mix & Mingle will include refreshments and live entertainment.
Students will need to check into all Roadrunner Days events using Event Pass on their mobile device. To do so, simply log in to RowdyLink, click on profile and download event pass using Apple Wallet, Google Play or screenshot. Saving the event pass makes checking into campus events quick and easy. In many cases, students will need their event pass or abc123 to get free swag, food and shirts at events.
