As part of its commitment to shape educational, economic and cultural programs and services for individuals living and working in San Antonio’s West Side, The University of Texas at San Antonio will kick off the Westside Community Center Virtual Event Series with two college admissions sessions.
The Zoom sessions, held in English and Spanish from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, will help families learn more about what they need to consider as their children prepare to apply for college. Because the sessions are virtual, participants can join in from the convenience of their homes or mobile devices.
“Things are slightly different in this unique year, and we know there are many questions about the college process,” said Belinda Saldaña Harmon, UTSA’s senior director of community outreach and transfer recruitment. “We look forward to being at the Westside Community Center in person as soon as possible. Until then, these virtual sessions will allow us to help families navigate the path to becoming a UTSA Roadrunner.”
The Westside Community Center serves as the home base for many workshops and events where students, families, community organizations, schools and businesses can come together to foster educational attainment, academic excellence, economic opportunity and research partnerships. A variety of virtual sessions will continue to be offered the third Wednesday of each month and will cover topics such as financial aid and scholarships, and will include conversations with current UTSA students.
