The University of Texas at San Antonio has been named a top employer in Texas, reaffirming the institution’s ongoing commitment to excellence in the workplace.
The institution landed in the No. 5 spot out of 100 employers in Texas on Forbes’ America’s Best-in-State Employers list, produced in partnership with Statista.
“UTSA is deeply committed to creating an inspiring workplace for our faculty and staff,” said UTSA Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Business Affairs Veronica Salazar. “The Forbes ranking confirms that we are making substantial progress towards our vision to be a great place to work and a leader in higher education.”

UTSA’s dedication to excellence in higher education is reflected in its workforce. Faculty and staff are committed to improving the student experience, with the understanding that higher education serves as a gateway to new opportunities.
Over the past two years, UTSA collected valuable information through its first faculty and staff Campus Climate Survey, as well as through follow-up focus groups and conversations. As a result, significant work has been done to create comprehensive plans that address institutional and division-specific initiatives. Work continues this fall as the university develops action plans to address faculty and staff feedback that will support making UTSA an even greater place to work.

UTSA currently has more than 6,500 employees, including faculty, staff, and student workers. As the university continues to expand, the ongoing focus on campus climate will help support a growing workforce. Just this fall, nearly 100 new full-time faculty were welcomed to the Roadrunner community.
About 1,382 employers across 50 states and the District of Columbia were recognized by Forbes as best-in-state employers in this year’s list—out of 70,000 individuals who were asked to recommend their employer to others. All surveys were anonymous, allowing participants to openly share opinions and rate their employers on a wide variety of criteria.
