NOVEMBER 28, 2022 — UTSA will focus on student well-being and campus spirit on Giving Tuesday, taking place now through Tuesday, November 29, with a slate of 10 projects highlighted on the university’s crowdfunding platform, Launch UTSA.
The initiatives collectively have the power to impact all students at UTSA, and donor support is key to making these efforts possible.
“Giving Tuesday is a global movement focused on encouraging giving to the nonprofits and other organizations that transform and lift up our communities,” said Karl Miller-Lugo, vice president for advancement and alumni engagement. “The projects UTSA is highlighting will provide critical aid to students, encourage student mental and physical well-being and promote UTSA spirit. I can think of no better way to make a difference for UTSA students this holiday season than by supporting one of these programs.”
“The projects UTSA is highlighting will provide critical aid to students, encourage student mental and physical well-being and promote UTSA spirit.”
The highlighted programs seeking support include:
- The Center for Military Affiliated Students: Hosts a personalized graduation ceremony so that all student-veterans can fully celebrate their achievements together.
- Rowdy: Help our Roadrunner mascot find new tailfeathers.
- UTSA Athletics: Ensures students can attend the Conference USA Championship Game and our student-athletes can fully enjoy postseason experiences.
- Roadrunner Pantry: Provides nutritious food and personal care items for students.
- Well-Being Initiatives: Supports programming that enhances student physical and mental health.
- Student Emergency Fund: Assists students after an emergency or during other unforeseen circumstances.
- UTSA Libraries Free Textbook Program: Provides grants for faculty to develop no-cost course materials.
All contributions are tax-deductible, as allowed by law, and 100% of each gift will go to the programs that donors designate. All gifts will also count toward reaching the $500 million goal for the university’s recently announced Be Bold: A Campaign for Our Future comprehensive campaign.
“Alumni, fans, parents, students and faculty/staff are passionate about UTSA and especially our students’ success,” Miller-Lugo said. “Together, we’ve transformed student lives through our Be Bold campaign, but there’s still so much more we can do to keep this amazing momentum UTSA is experiencing going. We’re grateful to everyone who participates in Giving Tuesday and our other efforts.”
