At UT San Antonio, transfer students make up roughly a third of the undergraduate student population. More than 3,000 degree-seeking transfer students enrolled at the university this year. Through a growing network of scholarships, transfer resources and community college partnerships, UT San Antonio is helping students navigate that transition to a four-year institution and make progress toward graduation.
UT San Antonio was recently recognized for its commitment to transfer student success by being named to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2026 Transfer Honor Roll. This is the second year the university has earned this recognition.
UT San Antonio is one of 275 colleges and universities nationwide selected for the honor, which recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence in supporting transfer students from admission through degree completion.
“As we observe National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 19-23, we also celebrate the fact that transfer students are a vital part of the Roadrunner community,” said Belinda Saldaña Harmon, executive director of Transfer, International and Graduate Recruitment. “This national recognition reflects the collaborative work happening across the university and with our community college partners to create pathways that help students thrive.”
Dedicated resources
Support for transfer students at UT San Antonio begins with dedicated transfer specialists who recruit and assist potential transfer students with the application process. The university provides transfer guides and a Transfer Credit Calculator to help prospective students understand how their credits may transfer before applying.
“Coming to UT San Antonio from the Alamo Colleges, for me, was very easy, stress-free and seamless,” said junior Elias Navarro. “I have heard horror stories of people only getting a few credits transferring to other universities. For me, almost all of my credits from San Antonio College transferred to UT San Antonio. I’m grateful to my advisor at UT San Antonio for helping me apply the credits I earned toward my degree.”
Financially, the university provides support to a large percentage of the overall student body; 72% of undergraduate students receive financial aid.
UT San Antonio also offers scholarships specifically for transfer students. The university recently expanded its Bold Promise program to cover 100% of tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying transfer students who have earned an associate degree from a Texas college or university. The expansion builds on existing support for eligible Alamo Promise students who graduated from Alamo Colleges.
“Our expanded Bold Promise for all eligible Texas transfer students is a great example of our ongoing commitment to student success and building a strong transfer-receptive culture at UT San Antonio,” Harmon said.
Prospective and current transfer students can learn more about the many resources available to them at the UT San Antonio Transfer Admissions website.
