Editor’s note: UT San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy and Francisco Cigarroa, MD, senior executive vice president for Health Affairs and Health System, sent this message to all faculty and students on Nov. 11.

This Veterans Day, we proudly honor and thank the military veterans across UT San Antonio who have served, as well as the family members who support them. Their service to our nation and their ongoing contributions to our university and clinical enterprise exemplify our shared spirit of excellence and our commitment to making lives better for those around us. To those who have served, we are deeply grateful and truly honored to have you as part of our UT San Antonio community.

Today, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., all members of the UT San Antonio community are invited to the Health Science Center Campus in the Academic and Administration Building (AAB) lobby, where the UT Health San Antonio Military Health Institute will host a special Veterans Day celebration. This event will feature inspiring speakers who will share messages of resilience and service as we reflect on the courage, dedication and sacrifices of those who have served in the armed forces.

Register on Eventbrite.

Tomorrow, Nov. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m., we encourage veterans to attend Coffee with Vets at the Veterans Lounge on the Academic Campus. This monthly gathering — held every second Wednesday — offers a welcoming space to connect with fellow veterans and students, strengthening the bonds that unite our community.

While today offers a special moment of reflection and gratitude, our commitment to our military-connected community extends far beyond Veterans Day. As our two institutions have come together this year, our veteran and military community has grown as well.

We remain committed to expanding the programs and resources that support military-connected faculty, staff and students across all campuses. Throughout the year, we invite all to stay informed on the numerous opportunities available to support our veterans through the UT San Antonio Office of Veteran and Military Affairs  and the UT Health Military Institute.

To our veteran community, the sacrifices you have made, both in service to our country and within our university, have not gone unnoticed. We thank you — today and every day — for your courage and commitment to serving others.
