UT San Antonio campuses closed Monday due to sub-freezing conditions

University leaders continue to closely monitor local conditions and the weather forecast from the National Weather Service.

In response to worsening conditions, UT San Antonio will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26. 

Academic Campuses (Main Campus, Downtown Campus, Southwest Campus, Park West Campus, San Pedro I and One Riverwalk Place):

  • For students, this means classes will be cancelled on Monday, Jan. 26. This includes labs and other in-person programs.
  • Employees with essential job functions should contact their direct supervisor for scheduling guidance. All other employees will not work on Monday, Jan. 26, while the academic campuses are closed.
  • On Monday, there will be locations available on the Main Campus for students and employees to use as warming stations:
  • The John Peace Library will be open as a 24-hour warming center.
  • The Student Union north building, located beside the McKinney Humanities Building, will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • To support campus residents, Housing and Residence Life staff will be available on-site and on-call to maintain safe walkways, building access and emergency needs. Front desks will operate as usual from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Additionally, the Roadrunner Café will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday to ensure campus residents have access to meals.
  • Academic campus-related updates will be posted on UT San Antonio Today and on the university’s official social media channels on FacebookInstagram and X.

Health Campus

  • Academic classes on the Health Science Center campus are canceled on Monday, Jan. 26.
  • For UT Health, decisions on clinics and surgeries will be communicated Sunday afternoon.
  • Additional health campus-related updates will be posted on uthscsa.edu. Information will also be sent via the university’s emergency alert system, HSC Alert, and by text and email to all employees and students.

University leaders will continue to monitor conditions and share additional updates on Monday morning, as needed.

An arctic cold front is forecast to move into San Antonio and the Hill Country this weekend, bringing hard freezes Saturday night, Sunday night and Monday night and the possibility of icy precipitation Saturday night and Sunday morning. 

Here’s how you can keep up with the latest from the university in the event inclement weather affects operations and classes: 

Main Campus, Downtown Campus, Southwest Campus, Park West Campus, San Pedro I and One Riverwalk Place

  • All weather-related announcements, changes to business operations and instructional activities, including delayed start times or the suspension of in-person classes, meetings and programming on campus, are posted to the university’s official social media sites and on UT San Antonio Today. 
  • Information will also be sent via the university’s Emergency Notification System, an enhanced emergency telephone, text and email notification system. 
  • Students, faculty and staff who have not already done so can sign up for the alerts by logging in to their MyUTSA Account. Select “UTSA Alerts” on the “Personal Information” card. 
  • Family members can sign up to receive temporary alerts by texting UTSAGuest to 59713. Registration for guest alerts expires after 120 days. 

Health Science Center Campuses and Clinical Locations

  • All weather-related announcements, changes to business or clinical operations or classes, including delayed start times, will be posted to https://uthscsa.edu. 
  • Information will also be sent via the university’s emergency alert system HSC Alerts by text and email to all staff and faculty employees and students.

University leaders are closely monitoring the changing weather conditions and will provide additional information as warranted.
